Objective:  I can utilize the explore tool in Google Docs to complete a mini-research project on a historic figure who has inspired me (W7).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get out your notebook and pen(cil).
  • DW:  Who is a historical figure who has inspired you?  What about them inspires you?
    • 2-3 Share-out
    • See Rebel Girls
  • Follow along to "Phenomenal Woman" by Maya Angelou in Modernism prezi slide 57
    • Go over the Explore Tool
    • See example Flappers poem
  • Select a woman for your poem 
  • Use the template to write your own version of the poem about the woman you selected
  • Exit Task:  You have two in-class days to work on this.  On Wednesday, you will turn in your poem, but you will also print it and your collage out to share on Thursday--prize for the winner!

Objective:  I can begin my first draft and employ some "tricks of the trade" in my writing to add interest and address my audience.
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get the Chromebook number that is next to your name on the sign-in sheet
    • Open Semester 2 Writing Option that you began last week and continue writing
      • Review expectations for your selection
    • Draft 1 is due Today (should be AT LEAST 1-2 paragraphs [the more you submit, the more I can help you!])
  • Exit Task:  Last 5 min.  Find a good place to stop and return your Chromebook to the cart.

Objective:  I can consider stereotypes of men and think about whether or not men and women face a parallel but different conflict as women.
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Copy the objective and cut and paste the cowboy/farmer into your notebook
    • Continue Modernism prezi from slide 46
  • List 3 traits around the farmer and the cowboy focusing on how they are different
    • Read "About Men" by Gretel Ehrlich
    • Add 5 attributes to your cowboy from the essay, at least 2 traditionally feminine attributes.
  • Watch Paul Harvey's "And God Made a Farmer"
    • ​Watch again, and add 5 traits to your farmer from the video, at least 2 traditionally feminine traits.
      • After reading and viewing, create an artistic representation of a farmer or a cowboy with at least 7 of the traits you listed shown--try a color image or a descriptive poem.
  • Exit Task: Answer the questions in the prezi on slide 54
    • Watch the video while you answer.

Objective:  I can consider stereotypes of boys and girls and think about how they influence my own actions and decision through reading Susan Brownmiller's "Femininity." 
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Copy the objective and cut and paste the men/women into your notebook
  • DW:  Define feminism in your own words. Are you a feminist?  Why or why not? 
    • Continue Modernism prezi from slide 35
    • List 5 traits around the man and the woman that you think of for each gender
      • Do you take on any of the traits from the opposite gender?
      • How acceptable is that in our society?
      • Review Mr. Syrie's and Mrs. Leonetti's examples
  • Get out a pink and blue coloring utensil
  • As "Femininity" is read to you, highlight traditional male traits in blue, and traditional female traits in pink
    • After reading, put a star next to any of the traits that apply to you.
    • Answer the questions in the prezi on slide 42
  • Watch the video
  • Exit Task:  Has your opinion changed today on the questions you answered in slide 42?  Why or why not?
