Objective:  I can review what alliteration and assonance are and look for them in my reading.  
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get out your reading folder and book; find someplace comfortable to read
    • What is the definition of alliteration and assonance?
    • Can you find it in Around America to Win the Vote as it is read to you?
      • Add example to your Literary Devices page in your reading folder
    • 15 min. Independent Reading
    • Kahoot or Quizlet:  Play the class game of Kahoot!  to improve your score, or take the Quizlet of our literary devices.  Either way, scores will be updated.
  • Exit Task:  Make sure you submit your score if you are using Quizlet.

​Objective: I can apply tricks of the trade to my edits and revision for my second draft of my writing option. 
Agenda:
  • Entry task: Get out your Chromebook and sit in assigned seats
    • ​Review Tricks of the Trade and add to slides
      • Make revisions or edits to your second draft, or begin a new writing option if you are ready
      • You must turn in your second draft by the end of the period!
  • Exit Task: Last 5 min. TURN IN your assignment and put your Chromebook away in its correct slot, plugged in, please.

Objective: I can read The Great Gatsby through my lens in order to have a deeper understanding of the book beyond the plot, and I can investigate the motives and emotions of one character. I can work in my project group to discuss and create scrapbook pieces.
Agenda:
  • Entry Task: Read the objective and write it down in your journal. Then get out your book and turn to chapter 5
    • Review lens questions
    • Follow along to chapter 5 (26 minutes)
    • Answer 1 lens question
      • In your project groups discuss and work on your selected scrapbook pieces.
  • Exit Task: Turn in what you have done so far on your scrapbook pieces

Objective: I can watch The Great Gatsby through my lens and answer a question on my lens chart.
Agenda:
  • Entry Task: Come in and where you are comfortable to watch but won't be tempted to talk.
    • Watch the first 52:20 minutes of The Great Gatsby
    • Make sure you have one lens question answered per chapter 1-4
  • Exit Task: Consider how the movie portrays the story in comparison with the book.  What do you like/dislike?

Objective:  I can read The Great Gatsby through the lens of Gothic, Modernism, or Feminist literature to have a deeper understanding of the book beyond the plot, and I can investigate the motives and emotions of one character.
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Review the second half of the above objective, and add it to the top, back of your lens chart.
    • Review your lens questions
    • Follow along to chapter 3 (34 min.)
    • Answer 1 lens question
      • ​Move to your groups and divide up the scrapbook items--each person must complete 1 of the writing options--no person may do 2 art pieces.  You will work together on the lens criticism.
  • Exit Task:  Turn in one copy of your scrapbook rubric with the names of who will complete each component.

    • Review Tricks of the Trade (TOT) and add to slideshow in Google Classroom
    • Make revisions or edits to your second draft, or begin a new writing option if you are ready
      • Attempt to apply at least one TOT to your writing and show it in the TOT assignment
    • Alternatively, you may complete an SBA practice test in preparation for retake testing on April 23 and 24.  
  • Exit Task:  Last 5 min. find a good place to stop and put your Chromebook away in its correct slot, plugged in, please.

Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get out your copy of The Great Gatsby.
  • DW:  Looking over your notes, what's one aspect of the 1920s you would have enjoyed and one you would have despised? 
    • Review the lens questions you selected after the Once Upon a Time test.
    • Review the characters we will meet with pictures.​
    • Before Reading:  Who is the narrator of The Great Gatsby?
    • Follow along to chapter 1
  • Exit Task:  Complete 1 lens question, fold them up, and use them as a bookmark for your book!
