Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get out your reading folder and book; find someplace comfortable to read
    • What is the definition of synecdoche and metonymy?
    • Can you find it in Cry Heart but Never Break as it is read to you?
      • Add example to your Literary Devices page in your reading folder
    • 25 min. Independent Reading
    • Last 8-10 minutes of class to work on your folder

Objective:  I can apply tricks of the trade to my edits and revision for current draft of my writing option.  
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get out your Chromebook and sit in your assigned seat
    • Review Tricks of the Trade (TOT) assignment
    • Make revisions or edits to your second draft, or begin a new writing option if you are ready
    • Attempt to apply at least one TOT to your writing and show it in the TOT assignment
  • Exit Task:  Last 5 min. find a good place to stop and put your Chromebook away in its correct slot, plugged in, please.

  • Objective: I can finish watching The Great Gatsby through my lens and finish my lens questions. I can participate in my group to put our scrapbook together and turn it in. 
    • Agenda:
      • Entry task: Read the objective and tell your group what you will need to be doing today and what is due at the end of the period… two groups will be asked to share
        • Finish watching the movie and completing any lens questions you have left… The lens questions are due at the end of the period with the scrapbook
        • In your groups discuss and put together your scrapbooks this should include:
          • Your individual scrapbook pieces
          • Your individual literary critiques
          • Your names (on a sticky not or on the actual scrapbook)
        • Ms. Frost will be walking around answering questions and helping wherever it is needed
      • Exit task: Turn in your scrapbook and lens questions!

  • Objective: I can participate in my group to discuss and complete my individual scrapbook pieces, literary critique and putting together our scrapbook as a whole.
    • Agenda:
      • Entry task: Read the objective and tell your neighbor what you will need to be doing today and what is due on Wednesday… two pairs will be called on to share.
        • Take the next 45 minutes of class time to work on your scrapbook pieces and literary critique… remember to print as you finish your pieces so that you can put the scrapbook together with your groups tomorrow and that we will not have chromebooks tomorrow to print
        • Ms. Frost will be walking around answering questions and helping wherever it is needed
      • Exit task: Be sure you have all of the materials you need for your scrapbook paper clipped together with your names on a sticky note… this should include your scrapbook pieces and literary critiques printed.

Objective: I can read The Great Gatsby through my lens in order to have a deeper understanding of the book beyond the plot, and I can investigate the motives and emotions of one character. I can work in my project group to discuss and create scrapbook pieces.
  • Agenda:
    • Entry Task: Read the objective and turn to your neighbor and tell them how you think we will meet the objective today. Get out your lens questions and book.
    • Review lens questions
    • Follow along with chapter 9
      • Follow along in your book or do a coloring sheet while you listen
    • Answer 1 lens question
    • In your project groups discuss and work on your selected scrapbook pieces.
    • Exit Task: Turn in drafts of your scrapbook pieces… Ms. Frost will give you feedback and return them

    • I can read The Great Gatsby through my lens in order to have a deeper understanding of the book beyond the plot, and I can investigate the motives and emotions of one character. I can work in my project group to discuss and create scrapbook pieces.
  • Agenda:
    • Come in and sit where you will be able to watch the movie comfortably and quietly
      • For the first hour of the block you will be watching the movie
    • Get out your book and turn to chapter 5
      • Review lens questions
      • Follow along to chapter
      • Answer 1 lens question
    • In your project groups discuss and work on your selected scrapbook pieces.
  • Exit Task: Turn in what you have done so far on your scrapbook pieces… Ms. Frost will give you feedback and return them tomorrow.

Objective: I can follow along with the  mini-lesson about literary critiques, and use the information I learn to participate in a small group discussion with other students from my lens, as well as to do a rough draft for my own lens critique  
  • Agenda:
    • Entry Task: Read the objective and write it down in your journal. Two students will be asked to share an example of something that would help them meet the objective.
    • Follow along to the presentation and take notes in your journal
    • Get into groups with the other students in your lens… There should be three groups modernism, gothic and feminism
      • Read the discussion questions and brainstorm ideas for your own lens critiques
    • Use the chromebooks to  write a rough draft of your own lens critique
  • Exit Task: Turn in the rough draft of your lens critique- this should include at least one strong thesis statement and short paragraph
