Objective:  I can demonstrate knowledge of early-20th century foundational works of American literature, specifically, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck (RL9).   
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Select a coloring picture you like to take notes on our author today. 
    • DW:  Copy the title and author of the book we are learning about today from the objective on the top of your picture.
  • Follow along to the prezi on Of Mice and Men taking notes on your picture about the author, book, and style of writing.
  • Exit Task:  Share with a neighbor what you were intrigued by from today's presentation.

Objective: I can review metaphor and look for it in the children’s book and my reading.  
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get out your reading folder and book; find someplace comfortable to read
  • What is the definition of metaphor?
  • Can you find it in "There" as it is read to you?
    • Add example to your Literary Devices page in your reading folder
  • 25 min. Independent Reading
  • Last 8-10 minutes of class to work on your folder; 4 Fridays until due date!
  • Exit Task:  Enjoy your weekend!

Objective:  I can apply tricks of the trade to my edits and revision for current draft of my writing option.  
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get out your Chromebook and sit in your assigned seat
    • Review Tricks of the Trade (TOT) assignment
      • ​Add to slideshow
    • Make revisions or edits to your second draft, or continue the new writing option you selected last week.
      • Attempt to apply at least one TOT to your writing and show it in the TOT assignment
    • Final Draft due May 10th before we begin our next novel and project.  
  • Exit Task:  Last 5 min. find a good place to stop and put your Chromebook away in its correct slot, plugged in, please.

Objective: I can participate in my group to discuss and complete my individual scrapbook pieces, literary critique and putting together our scrapbook as a whole.
  • Agenda:
    • Entry task: Read the objective and tell your group what you will need to be doing today and what is due on Wednesday.
      • Take the next 45 minutes of class time to work on your scrapbook pieces and literary critique
    • Exit task: Your scrapbook is due at the end of the period on Wednesday!

Objective: I can follow along with the  mini-lesson about literary critiques, and use the information I learn to participate in a small group discussion with other students from my lens, as well as to do a rough draft for my own lens critique  
  • Agenda:
    • Entry Task: Read the objective and write it down in your journal. Two students will be asked to share an example of something that would help them meet the objective.
    • Follow along to the example and take notes in your journal
    • Get into groups with the other students in your lens… There should be three groups modernism, gothic and feminism
      • Read the discussion questions and brainstorm ideas for your own lens critiques
    • Use the chromebooks to  write a rough draft of your own lens critique
  • Exit Task: Turn in the rough draft of your lens critique- this should include at least one strong thesis statement and short paragraph

Objective: I can read The Great Gatsby through my lens in order to have a deeper understanding of the book beyond the plot, and I can investigate the motives and emotions of one character. I can work in my project group to discuss and create scrapbook pieces.
  • Agenda:
    • Entry Task: Read the objective and turn to your neighbor and tell them how you think we will meet the objective today. Get out your lens questions and book.
    • Review lens questions
    • Follow along with chapter 9
      • Follow along in your book or do a coloring sheet while you listen
    • Answer 1 lens question
    • Work with your group to complete your second scrapbook piece  
    • Exit Task: Submit your second scrapbook piece for review.
