Objective:  I can determine two or more themes or central ideas of a text through analyzing their development over the course of the text utilizing either the New Historicism or Formalism Lens, including how they interact and build on one another to produce a complex account (RL2).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get out your copy of Of Mice and Men, lens questions, and sit with your group.
    • DW:  Why do you think Steinbeck uses so much animal imagery in Of Mice and Men?
  • Review the lens questions you have left so you know what you are looking for as you read.  Remember this functions as your reading test, so be sure to include quotations and page numbers in your answers to show a thorough and thoughtful reading.
    • Follow along to Audible reading Ch. 24-26 (approx. 23 min.) and answer 2 lens questions.
    • Have out your poster rough draft in case any quotes come up!
  • Add to your poster by either answering any questions you can OR adding illustrations.
    • Use the claim, cite, clarify model for your responses on the posters. Divide number of responses necessary evenly among your group members.
Exit Task:  Show me your progress on your poster for feedback as you are working--you have today and tomorrow to finish!
