Objective:  I can find evidence of the lens of New Historicism from reading “An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge” and identify elements of it from the story as well as compare the story version to the music video version looking for setting, realistic detail, and tone.
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get out an Orange Lit. book and your New Historicism Evidence handout from yesterday; read the objective and be prepared to explain how you will meet it.
    • Number yourself off to 6.
    • Work on the piece of evidence assigned to your group to help identify the New Historicism lens through the reading of “An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge.”
      • Make sure to CITE from the text.
    • Each group will share their statements and write them up on the board.
    • Watch the video "Unlovable" by Babybird and follow along to the lyrics--how are the video and story different/similar?
    • Illustrate the setting, realistic detail, and the tone of the overall story on the back of their evidence handout.
  • Exit Task:  In the top left of your evidence chart, make sure you have your name and write a scale of 1-5 on how well you think you understand this new lens. I will collect this at the end of the period on your way out of the door.
