Objective:  I can present information, findings, and supporting evidence, conveying a clear and distinct perspective, such that listeners can follow along because the organization, development, substance, and style are appropriate to purpose of nominating a famous figure for the awards of Best Style, Most Admired, or Most Influential (SL4).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Take a copy of your voting guide for 4th or 6th.  This is the order we will present.  
  • When it is your turn to present, turn in your rubric to teacher. 
  • As each of your peers presents, remember how it feels to be up in front of the class so be supportive and respectful.  
  • Consider each presentation on its own merit, not who is presenting; to do so, rate each presenter for poise, voice, and life using the chart below (3=excellent, 2=good, 1=ok).  
    • Our goal is to select a winner for each category of Best Style, Most Admired, and Most Influential.
    • Total your pts. for each presenter to determine who is most deserving. Winners will receive a class prize as well as 25 extra credit points.
    • Runners-up in each category will also receive 25 extra credit points.
  • Exit Task:  Select your winner for each category and turn in your votes!

Objective:  I can reflect on my experiences this year and think about my future; then, I can practice my presentation to earn my goal grade on the presentation I will give on Wednesday.  
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Pick up the directions for the letter to your senior self and get out a piece of paper.  
    • DW:  Review the directions for the letter and circle the topics you would like to cover.
  • 15-20 min. Take your time to write your senior self a letter.  You will turn this in the next 20 min. or so (depending on time you need).  If you do not want me to read it, seal your envelope.  You may enclose something meaningful to you within as well, a picture you have carried with you, something from your backpack or notebook, some kids even include money so their senior self can buy a coffee! 
    • Take your time and be thoughtful--it may not seem important now, but when you get this as a senior, you will be so surprised at how much you have grown and changed.  
  • After you write your letter, turn it in with your name on the envelope.
  • Grab your Chromebook and partner up for partner practice presentation BINGO
  • Exit Task:  Turn in your BINGO sheet only both you and your partner have completed all components and written each other constructive criticism.

Objective:  I can accurately cite strong and thorough textual evidence using MLA format to support my biography of the famous figure I selected and avoid plagiarism (RI1).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get out your Chromebook and log in to Google Classroom.
  • Review the Famous Figure Rubric marking with a small X where you think you are right now.  
  • Review connection between (parenthetical citation) and Works Cited.
  • Make sure your citations align!
    • Copy MLA Citations from Famous Figure Biography, Article Analysis, and any others you used throughout presentation into your Works Cited.
      • REMEMBER = 0 without because you are plagiarizing!  
  • Finish your Famous Figure slideshow in Google Classroom.
  • Exit Ticket:  Hit Turn In at the end of the period even if you are not finished--remember daily completion points!

Objective:  I can write a narrative in the style of an acrostic or bio poem about my famous figure in which I can accurately cite strong and thorough textual evidence using MLA format  and avoid plagiarism (W1; RI1).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get out your Chromebook and sit where you are comfortable to type but not talk.
    • DW:  No write today--turn and share what has been your favorite part to write about your famous figure: biography, gossip column, historical fiction, acrostic poem, or bio poem.  Why?
  • Be prepared to share which was your favorite and why to the whole class in preparation for our presentations next week!
  • Work Day: During our class today, you will have the hour to get caught up on your presentation OR your Weebly website.  Both of these are due at the end of the week.  At this point, you should have these items completed in your slideshow:
    • Title Slide
    • Biography
    • Article Analysis
    • Gossip Column OR Historical Fiction
    • Acrostic or Bio Poem
    • Works Cited
    • You should be selecting on of your slides for your Weebly Famous Figure page. 
  • Exit Task:  Hit Turn In on your slideshow for one more chance at feedback.

Objective:  I can write a narrative in the style of an acrostic or bio poem about my famous figure in which I can accurately cite strong and thorough textual evidence using MLA format  and avoid plagiarism (W1; RI1).
  • DW:  What is your favorite type of poetry to write?  Have you ever written an acrostic poem? Did you enjoy writing your bio poem about yourself at the beginning of the year?
  • Review the directions for the Bio Poem and Acrostic Poem in Google Classroom. 
  • Select your preference and type the rough draft in the Doc.  Then, put in your Famous Figure Slideshow with relevant image(s).  Delete the slide you do not use.  
    • Remember to cite your sources! 
  • Exit Task:  "Turn in" your rough draft for daily completion points.

Objective:  I can write a narrative in the style of a gossip column or historical fiction about my famous figure in which I can accurately cite strong and thorough textual evidence using MLA format  and avoid plagiarism (W1; RI1).
  • DW:  What do you need to do to get caught up on your Famous Figure Presentation today?  Which slides do you still need to finish, or which have been your favorite to complete so far?
  • Work Day: During class today, you will have the opportunity to get caught up on your slideshow and Weebly website.  Both of these are due at the end of the week.  At this point, you should have these items completed in your slideshow:
    • Title Slide
    • Biography
    • Article Analysis
    • Gossip Column or Historical Fiction (delete the other slides)
    • Your Weebly Famous Figure page should be complete through #8
  • Exit Task:  Resubmit your presentation slides for feedback.

Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get out your Chromebook and sit where you are comfortable to type but not talk.  Write your DW.
    • DW:  Do you read magazines?  Whether yes or no, which would you prefer to read magazines like People or National Geographic?  
  • Introduction to Gossip column or Historical Fiction introduction and examples in Google Classroom.
    • Which is more like what you would see in People Magazine? What about National Geographic?  
  • Select your preference and complete draft then add to your slideshow.  Make sure to review the comments and make changes.  
  • Exit Task:  Hit Turn In on the draft of your Historical Fiction or Gossip Column for Daily Completion Points.

​Objective: I can review literary and poetic devices and look for them in the children’s books and my reading.  
Agenda: 
  • Your folder is due TODAY!
  • Entry Task:  Get out your reading folder and book; find someplace comfortable to read or work quietly
  • Please work/read silently for the first 25 min. so anyone who wants to can use the time to read.
    • Add example to your Literary Devices page in your reading folder--remember, you can use your book, children's books, or The Alchemyst for these.
  • After reading time, you may work quietly on your folders.  It is due TODAY.​
  • Exit Task:  Turn in your reading folder.  This will not be accepted late as we have worked on it weekly throughout the whole semester.
