Objective:  I can analyze how complex characters develop over the course of a text, interact with other characters, and advance the plot through understanding the elements of the Hero's Journey (RL3).
Agenda:  
  • Entry Task:  Have a seat, but be prepared to move.  Just get out your notebook and complete your DW.
  • DW:  Who is one hero that you can relate to?  In what way(s) do you relate?
    • Count off 1-6
    • Sit in your number group
    • Read the information provided as a group and complete your section of the notes
    • Accept  your new number and move groups
    • Share your information with your new group, starting with number 1 until you have completed through number 12.
  • Exit Task:  Make sure you have your new notes organized into your notebook!

  • Entry Task:  Pick up the Guided Notes at the front table and organize them into your notebook
    • DW:  What is a hero?
  • Follow along to the Hero's Journey prezi 
    • Complete your guided notes
    • What will we do with this throughout the semester?  
  • Exit Task:  Brainstorm your favorite characters who follow the hero's journey.

Objective:  I know the expectations for Mrs. Leonetti's class and can prepare to be successful this semester by reviewing her classroom resources and my expectations for myself.  
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Sign in and select the seating option that is most comfortable to your style of learning.  
    • DW (45 free points!):  What will you do differently this semester vs. last semester?  Why?
      • Get out your blue procedures packet if you were with me last semester; take your notecard.
        • If you are new, raise your hand for both.
      • Review the procedures prezi, completing/reviewing your notecard and handout as you go
      • Select song and turn in notecard. 
      • Share your favorite book or movie and why.
  • Exit Task: Use procedures handout to separate first semester from second semester in your notebook.

Objective:  I can see how the central ideas (big ideas) that appear throughout Shakespeare's life also appear in various literature types, and I will begin to analyze their development throughout the reading, in my own life, and other forms of literature (RL2). 
Agenda:
  • Entry Task: Please take out your Big Idea Book 
  • Today and tomorrow we will complete the Big Idea Book 
    • Complete page 1 of Big Idea packet 
      • ​What lesson did the characters learn?  You? Those in your selected piece?
      • Change this to theme statement
    • Create theme 1-pager 
    • Complete End of play questions and agree or disagree
    • Review the components of the project glued in the back of your file and make sure you have all complete components.  
    • Staple ONLY these components into your folder like a binding of a book.  Make sure they are in order!  
  • Exit Task:  Finish your Big Idea Book by the end of the period on Thursday and turn in!

Objective:  I can analyze the representation of Romeo and Juliet comparing the play to the movie (RL7).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task: Please take out your Big Idea Book 
    • Before we start, take a moment to remember what we have read and saw so far, and be on the look out for evidence of your chosen big idea. ​
  • Today we will finish watching the film version of Romeo & Juliet!
  • Remember, the film version we are watching uses Shakespeare's original language but takes place in a more modern time, so pay attention to the events of the play even if you are not understanding everything they are saying.
  • Read the final scene to discuss differences between the ending of the play and the ending of the film.  Be on the look out for a Big Idea quote!
    • Complete comparison chart
  • Exit Task:  In the bottom box of the comparison chart, explain whether your preferred the original, the No Fear Shakespeare, or the movie version of the play and why you prefer this style.

Objective:  I can analyze the representation of Romeo and Juliet comparing the play to the movie (RL7).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get out your Big Idea folder and grab a few magazines
    • Review expectations for Big Idea folder
    • Check off those you have completed
    • As we finish Act IV in the film, look for pictures or words for your collage.  
    • After the film, cut and paste pictures to your Big Idea folder cover for your collage.  It needs to be completely covered and all pictures/words need to be relevant to the Big Idea you selected.  You may use your coloring picture(s) as a part of the collage, but they should not be the only pictures.  
  • Exit Task:  Leave your Big Idea folder on the back counter to dry over the weekend.

Objective:  I can produce clear and coherent writing based on my revisions and rewriting to improve my writing skills (W5).
Agenda:  
  • Entry Task:  Get your Chromebook and open Google Classroom
  • Review the directions for the conclusion and the Alternate Assignment (70% only)
    • Make changes to the rest of your essay first, then write your conclusion.
    • Finish the Alternate Assignment
  • Exit Task:  Add your final essay or the Alternate Assignment to the assignment in Google Classroom by the end of the period.  You may work on  your Big Idea Book collage if you finish early.

Objective:  I can analyze the representation of Romeo and Juliet comparing the play to the movie (RL7).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get out your Big Idea folder and a purple lit. book Romeo and Juliet (put your phones away/sit in your assigned seat).
    • Open the purple lit. book to p. 845, so you can follow along to the reading with the movie to help you find quotes for your Big Idea packet.  You should have at least one quote from Act I-III to support your Big Idea so far.  
    • Review the End of the Play Questions in your packet.  Answer those that you can so far in complete sentences in the space provided.  
  • Exit Task:  On the front of your Big Idea packet, explain how you see the Big Idea in your own life in a thorough, thoughtful paragraph.

  • Review Act III; Scene I questions and expectations for adaptation option.  
    • Read aloud Act III; Scene I from No Fear Shakespeare--non-readers, be looking for your Big Idea 
    • Watch Act III;Scene I (1:00-1:15:36 min.) and answer questions about scene.
  • Review expectations for adaptation and select a partner
  • Exit Task:  How did the producers adaption affect your reading of the play?  Do you prefer the Early Modern English version of the play or the Modern versions from No Fear Shakespeare and the film?

Objective:  I can read and comprehend a book of my choice for enjoyment using my Friday time wisely to show my understanding of the reading (RL10).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get out your independent reading folder from the file cabinet and your library book.​​
  • Review Independent Reading Contract
    • Check off the items you have completed that are in your folder
    • What do you still need to do to earn the grade you want from the contract by the end of the period?​
  • 20 min. Sustained Silent Reading
  • Work on Book Review for one of the Children's Books read (C), a chapter in your own book (B-), honest review of your completed book (A-), or completed project/website review (A).  
  • Exit Task:  Make sure your name is on your folder and the contents are organized in the order they appear on the contract.
