Objective:  I can show my understanding of A Doll's House or The Awakening by completing the assigned AP Prompt within the class period using the explicit analysis template as a guide to organize my ideas.
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get your essay folder and sit where you are comfortable to write your essay.  You may use any resources except the book/play.
  • Review the prompt and select whether you want to write about A Doll's House or The Awakening.
  • Put the prompt and your response in your folder; put your folder in your group pocket.
  • Exit Task:  Put your last assignment for the book and play in the box.  You should have both My Essential Lits and the Lens questions turned in today.  We are starting something fresh tomorrow!

Objective:  I can review my progress toward success on the AP Literature Test and review the expectations for writing to be prepared to write for tomorrow's essay on The Awakening or A Doll's House.
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get your writing folder AND a Chromebook.  Sit with your writing group.  Log in to appass.com
  • Read the directions for the checklist; check off items as you complete them
    • IMPORTANT:  Please make sure you complete each item on the checklist--you are doing this to review your progress thus far AND remind yourself about the key components of writing for this class.  It has been over a month since we last wrote an essay here.
  • You can work at your own pace as a group as long as you complete all tasks by the end of the period.  Miss Frost and the substitute will be around to monitor your progress.
  • Exit Task:  Make sure your name is on your checklist, all blanks are completed, and you staple one of your required assignments for The Awakening and A Doll's House to the back of the checklist.  Make sure your folder is in your group pocket, and it is returned to the teacher for use tomorrow.

Objective:  I can participate in a discussion of The Awakening and A Doll's House in a group that represents the lenses of New Historicism, Gender/Power/Marginalization, and Feminism to consider the works from multiple perspectives.
Agenda:
  • This conversation should be driven by your lenses, but it should also be an extension of our Socratic Seminar--what points continue to come up that are significant to you?
  • Use this time to add to your lens questions (due Monday)
  • Exit Task:  Finish your My Essential Literature for The Awakening and turn in.
  • Optional Assignment:  Complete the OPTICAL assignment for Andrea Kowch's The Cape as seen below.  You will also need to reference these archetypes to help you.  This prezi illuminates the symbol of birds.  This assignment is worth 25 optional assessment points--consider it like a test--it is worth the same amount as an essay and an excellent opportunity to delve deeper into The Awakening and A Doll's House.  It must be completed before we write next Tuesday.  Only do this if you are really invested--points will not be given freely--you need to show thought and processing in your answers.

Objective:  I can participate in a discussion of The Awakening and A Doll's House in a group that represents the lenses of New Historicism, Gender/Power/Marginalization, and Feminism to consider the works from multiple perspectives.
Agenda:
  • Decide who will be the recorder this time; Get one Chromebook and sign in to Google Classroom
  • In the Book Club Assignment, open the Doc provided
    • As the recorder, note who is in your group, and who has each lens; then record the major take-aways for each member
    • Do not attempt to record the conversation verbatim--you too should be contributing, but what are the major points?
    • Each member will fulfill this role at least once--only the group member who turns it in gets the points!
    • This conversation should be driven by your lenses, but it should also be an extension of our Socratic Seminar--what points continue to come up that are significant to you?
  • Exit Task:  Submit your notes and add to your lens questions.
