Objective:  I can review the AP Deepening Assignment options and use class time to deepen my understanding of what we are working on this semester based on my own interests.
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Read the new MC prompt and answer #13
  • Use class-time to work on your selection assignment
    • This is use-it or lose it time (if majority are not working, we will not continue to use class time for this purpose)
    • Make sure to ask questions or get clarification
    • I am open to other ideas, but you need to write a description of the plan for your deepening work
  • Exit Task:  Put Chromebooks away

Objective:  I can show my understanding of A Doll's House, The Handmaid's Tale, or The Awakening by completing a selected AP Prompt within the class period using the explicit analysis template as a guide to organize my ideas.
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  As you come in, read the prompt options, select one, and get your essay folder and sit where you are comfortable to write your essay.
  • Review the prompt you selected and decide whether you want to write about A Doll's House, The Handmaid's Tale, or The Awakening.
    • Write your essay. You may use any resources except the book/play.
  • Put the prompt and your response in your folder; put your folder in your group pocket.
  • Exit Task:  You should have both My Essential Lits turned in today; put them in your essay folder. You will have time to work on your Deepening Assignment tomorrow, and we will start something new on Thursday!

Objective: I can develop and strengthen writing by planning, editing, and/or trying a new approach focusing on "work-ons" from previous writings (RL 4).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Sit with your writing group (may be revised for Sem. 2--should be same color)
    • Review your group goals on your folder; put a check next to those you ALL feel you have accomplished in the last semester
    • Take out ALL of your papers from your folder (except the stapled-in progress chart and essay graphic); make sure your progress chart is fully completed including up to the question about the trigger phrases on the back
    • Now, starting with your cruelty essay, review ALL of the comments you have received, making a simplified list of those which reappear.
      • Stack your essays in the order we completed them as you go
    • When you get to your Romanticism essay, chart your progress and answer through How can I help you? On the back.
      • On your phone or Chromebook, go to appass.com and enter the average of your open choice, poetry, and passage responses.
      • Add up your total MC points from our first three sets and enter that score.
      • Come tell me whether or not you plan to take the test.
    • With cruelty on the bottom and Romanticism on the top, staple two times along the top, covering the essay graphic so that you might still use it when necessary during writing
    • Review your simplified list. Cross off any items you know you have accomplished.  Highlight those that you are going to focus on as you write your next essay on our most recent reads.
  • Make sure there are no other papers in your writing folder, organize your My Essential Lits. into the provided envelope and keep them in your daily notebook.
    • Remember that your organized notebook is one of your 100 point review options prior to the test, so do not throw anything away, please.  I will not make new copies for any missing assignments--they are all available online.
  • Exit Task:  Know your strengths--even if you do not see a steady progression from one essay to the next, you probably notice that you are more successful with one type of essay than another.  Remember that you will write all three if you choose to take the AP test--would you complete your strength first or save it for last?  Why?

Objective:  I can participate in a discussion of The Awakening OR The Handmaid's Tale in a group that represents the lenses of  Gender/Power/Marginalization and Feminism to consider  the works from multiple perspectives.
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Take your Perfect People; Review your answers to our chalk talk questions; take on the persona of one character from one of our readings, and go around with the gender-specific color and answer the questions from his/her perspective--make sure to put his/her name after each response.
  • Get together with your Book Club
  • Review whole class discussion questions
  • Get one Chromebook and sign in to Google Classroom
    • The last recorder needs to submit notes today.
      • Do not attempt to record the conversation verbatim--you too should be contributing, but what are the major points?
      • I should be able to read your notes as an answer to the question(s).
  • Exit Task:  Submit your notes (if you were absent a day and have not done this, you are responsible for doing so before Tuesday of next week) and turn in your My Essential Lit.

Objective:  I can analyze the impact of an artist's choices regarding how they develop and relate to elements of our readings (RL3).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Choose a partner  or group of 3 (NOT YOUR BOOK CLUB) and get out 1 Chromebook to share and go to www.literaturewithleonetti.com/ap-daily
  • Review the directions for OPTICAL assignment on the paper copy provided for Andrea Kowch's The Cape as seen below and in the color copy provided to each group.
    • You will also need to reference these archetypes to help you.  This prezi illuminates the symbol of birds.
    • This assignment is worth 25 assessment points--consider it like a test--it is worth the same amount as an essay and an excellent opportunity to delve deeper into The Awakening or The Handmaid's Tale and A Doll's House.
    • You only need to turn in 1 paper copy/group--make sure all of your names are on it, and that you all agree this is your BEST work.  You will all receive the same score.
  • Exit Task: For full credit, there should be thorough and thoughtful analysis.  You need to show thought and processing in your answers.
