Objective:  I can read Act IV; scene 6-7 through the psychoanalytical or archetypal lens and use OPTICAL to investigate Sir John Everett Millais' Ophelia (RL11-12.7). 
Agenda:  
  • Entry Task:  Pick up a copy of Hamlet on the way to your desk.  Get out annotated Multiple Choice and answer the next question.  Be prepared to be called on and give your reasoning for your answer. 
  • Before reading:  Where does Hamlet tell Claudius Polonius is? What does Claudius plan for Hamlet's arrival in England?  What's wrong with Ophelia?
    • Listen Act IV, scene 6-7 (13 min.)
After reading:   Make a small group of 3-4 (make sure you have both an archetypal and psychoanalytical lens member). Look at artwork and complete--OPTICAL--due at end of period.

​Objective:  I can read Act III, Scene iv through the psychoanalytical or archetypal lens and share my ideas in a Socratic Seminar to deepen our understanding of Hamlet (SL11-12.1). 
Agenda:  
  • Entry Task:  Pick up a copy of Hamlet on the way to sit in the inner or outer circle; you will be in the opposite when we finish the play!  Get out your Socratic Seminar packet.
    • Before reading:  How does Hamlet and Ophelia's relationship seem?
      • What does Hamlet plan to do about Claudius?
      • What are Polonius and Gertrude planning?
    • Listen Act III, scene iv (12:34 min.)
    • After reading:    Review inner and outer circle expectations. Discuss/take notes depending on your role.  
    • Questions to consider if conversation falters:
      • ​Does/did Hamlet love Ophelia?
      • Is Hamlet crazy?
        • ​Who thinks so? Why? 
        • What does he say himself?
        • How does he behave towards different individuals?
      • ​Should Hamlet take revenge?  Why or why not?
Exit Task:  Review and assess your participation and turn in your Socratic Seminar packet last 5-10 min.

Objective:  I can utilize class time to work on my deepening assignment in order to deepen my select area of the course.  
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Get out your Chromebook or the poetry essay prompt.
  • If you have not completed your poetry essay prompt/template, it is due by the end of the period.
  • If you have completed it, please put it in your essay folder to be scored for feedback.
  • Those who are finished with their essay may work on one of the following:
    • Selected Deepening Assignment
    • College or Scholarship essays are due Monday (Nov. 4th!  These will not be accepted late.
    • Your Book Club triangle
  • Please remember to use this time for AP Literature.  If it is used wisely, you will have other opportunities like this.
  • Exit Task:  Make sure your  poetry essay is in your essay folder.

Objective:  I can discuss my book club book with my group selecting the best prompt that is meaningful to our book and organize our ideas in the outline provided (W11-12.5).
  • Entry Task:  Get out your My Essential Literature to have it checked off for completion; you may keep it to help you with your group essay and individual analysis triangle.  
    • Review the directions from slide #22 of the prezi 
    • Review the directions for the Group Essay
    • Select your prompt and use your notes to complete the TOGETHER work through Step 4 
      • If time, begin your Analysis Triangle; yes, you must write in the triangle!
Exit Task:  Ask any questions you have about what to do individually with triangle before you leave.  Make sure you know which body section you are writing! This is due next Friday.

After reading:  Meet with 3 o'clock partner and complete Socratic Seminar entry ticket.  Decide between you and partner who will be inner/outer circle tomorrow.

Objective:  I can watch Act I-II of Hamlet and explain whether or not my interpretation of the play changes based on the viewing to determine whether or not it would be valuable to continue to view the film (RL11-12.7).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Pick up a copy of Hamlet on the way to your desk.  Get out annotated Multiple Choice and answer the next question.  Be prepared to be called on and give your reasoning for your answer. 
    • Turn in your completed MC packet and pick up the new one to read and annotate as homework.
  • Get out your My Essential Lit. and complete 6 take-aways or questions you have for Hamlet thus far in the Hamlet vs. Hamlet chart.
    • Watch Act I of Hamlet (49:08); take notes of any clarifications or answers you see from the film.
Exit Task: ​After you watch the film, in the bottom box, explain how or if your interpretation has changed or if you questions have been clarified.  Be sure to address whether or not watching the film was a valuable or necessary experience for you as a learner as this will determine whether or not we continue to take time to watch the film version of the play.

Objective:  I can follow along to Act II; Scene II of Hamlet and participate in a silent discussion of the lens elements we have identified thus far (SL11-12.1).
Agenda:  
  • Entry Task:  Pick up a copy of Hamlet on the way to your desk.  Get out annotated Multiple Choice and answer the next question.  Be prepared to be called on and give your reasoning for your answer. 
  • Do a quick check in on what we saw in Act II: Scene I by reviewing your My Essential Lit. characters and exposition.
  • Follow along to the rest of Act II; Scene II (18:39 min.)
    • Review your lens questions add notes to your handout on selected Archetypal or Psychoanalytical Questions including quotations or page numbers that are significant to answering a question. 
  • See the discussion self-assess rubric for the Chalk Talk
  • Participate in the Chalk Talk by giving thorough and thoughtful answers to the questions related to your lens 
  • Take 10 min to read and answer one question-without talking
    • ​Take 5 min. to read and respond to someone's answer to another question related to YOUR lens.
  • Repeat the process until you have answered at least 2 of your questions and responded to the other 2.  
Exit Task:  Review your rubric and self-assess on how you did during the Chalk Talk; complete the bottom 3 questions.  Hold on to this until we do our Socratic Seminar next week.

    • Review your lens questions add notes to your handout on selected Archetypal or Psychoanalytical Questions including quotations or page numbers that are significant to answering a question.  Do not write an answer on your My Essential Lit. page yet.
  • Review Crash Course Hamlet Part 1 to where we are at in the play (4:03 min.)
    • Add to your My Essential Lit.
Exit Task:  Last minute discuss--ask any clarifying questions, so we are ready to move on to Act II tomorrow.  ​

Objective:  I can discuss my book club book with my group selecting a prompt that is meaningful to our book and record our ideas in an opening sentence as well as in My Essential Lit. to hold our thinking (RL11-12.2).
  • Entry Task:  Get comfy!  Get your book club folder, snack, and books out to get ready to discuss
    • Review the directions from slide #21 of the prezi 
    • All of the prompts have been provided to you; if there is another prompt you did not use before that you prefer now, you may use it
      • Either way, add more notes to the existing or start a new sheet.  You must narrow down to one prompt to work with for next week.  
Exit Task:  Complete at least one section in your own My Essential Literature
