Objective:  I can analyze how an author's choices concerning how to structure specific parts of a text (e.g., the choice of where to begin or end a story, the choice to provide a comedic or tragic resolution) contribute to its overall structure and meaning as well as its aesthetic impact (RL11-12.5).
  • Entry Task:  Get out annotated Multiple Choice and answer the next question.  This should be the last one you did on this set.  Answers will be reviewed tomorrow.  
  • Review the most recent poetry prompts (in the packet I gave you), to practice accessing them quickly using the TPCASTT toolkit.
    • ​Don't spend more than 5 min. on each poem.
      • Read Walcott’s 2015 Prompt
        • TPCASTT
      • Read Wilbur’s 2016 Prompt
        • TPCASTT
      • Read Harpers’ 2017 Prompt
        • TPCASTT
  • Each of these authors is contemporary--the test-makers are using poems that you can access in a short amount of time and have something to say about them!
  • Select one of student example essays (Walcott, Wilbur, or Harper) you are most interested in to look at, paying close attention to how the writer writes about poetry
    • ​Make a note to yourself in your notebook about what they do with their writing that you like and want to try in your own essay
  • After reading, you should continue to work on their slideshow
  • Exit Task:  Remember, your slideshow is due Friday.
