Objective:  I can analyze an author’s choices in order to develop an understanding of the intended meaning of the work (RL11-12.2,3,&5).

• Entry Task:  Get out annotated Multiple Choice and answer the next question.  Be prepared to be called on and give your reasoning for your answer.
• Share with a neighbor what your favorite song or poem is right now
  • Have 2-3 students share out their responses to the whole class
• Play "Is it a song or a poem"?
• Review TPCASTT toolkit and the directions and tools that it provides
• Follow along to "School Night" and "Mad Girl's Love Song"
  • ​Look for the shift as you listen
    • After reading, employ the rest of the bolded tools
    • Share out CAS
    • Write your theme statement
    • Share some meanings
  • Which is the song and the poem?  How do you know?
• Exit Task:  You get to select their own song!  Come to class tomorrow with a song (or two) in mind.
