Objective:  I can learn more about and write about a famous figure who is inspirational to me in order to make him/her seem inspirational to others.
Agenda:  
  • Entry Task:  Select a "profession" listed on the board by tallying which one you are most interested in learning about.
    • Listen to the story about a woman in the profession you selected from Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls 
    • Choose a historical figure (or two if you are undecided) from the list provided.
    • Look up the figure(s) in Wikipedia or other online resources.
    • Read a little about your choice(s) to ensure (s)he is a person of interest for you.  If you were undecided, you need to make a choice now.
    • Answer the following questions about your figure:
      1. Who is (s)he?
      2. What did (s)he do that was of note?
      3. When did this occur?
      4. Where did this occur?
      5. Why did this occur?
    • Choose one of the following sentence beginnings below, and complete the sentence for your figure.
      1. The thing that I regret most about my life is . . .
      2. If I could accomplish one more thing, I would . . .
      3. The accomplishment that I am proudest of is . . .
      4. If I could live anywhere in the world, I would choose . . .
      5. The saddest moment in life was when . . .
      6. My favorite childhood memory is . . .
      7. The thing that scares me the most is . . .
    • Compose a short story in first-person, speaking as the historical figure where you explain the figure's wish, dream, or fear.
    • If you select to complete this story it should include at least 1 fact about the who, what, when, where, and why you answered above.  
    • Alternatively, if you would rather do a final autobiographical piece today, you may
    • Exit Task:  Share who your figure was with the class and one new fact you learned about him/her.
