Objective:  I can read Act V; scene 1 through the psychoanalytical or archetypal lens and put characters from Hamlet "on the couch" to explore character motivations RL11-12.2).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Pick up a copy of Hamlet on the way to your desk.  Get out annotated Multiple Choice and answer the next question.  Be prepared to be called on and give your reasoning for your answer.
  • Before reading:  What did Claudius and Laertes plan?  What did Claudius tell Gertrude at the end of Act IV?
    • Consider:  Which character(s) are of most interest to you?  What do you think their motivations are?
    • Listen Act V, scene I (15:01 min.)
  • After reading:  With a partner, analyze characters by putting them "on the couch" and begin your dialogue with him/her.
Exit Task:  Turn in your "On the Couch" Activity with both you and your partner's name on it.  Add questions to your Socratic seminar ticket to prepare for final discussion.
