Objective:  I can read Act V; scene II through the psychoanalytical or archetypal lens and consider the motives of the Queen.
Agenda:  
  • Entry Task:  MC--be prepared to be called on; With a neighbor discuss:  How have the female characters influenced the play?
  • Listen Act V, scene II (23:25 min.)
    • Before reading:  Does Hamlet know Ophelia is dead when scene I begins?What does he say when he finds out she is? What is the deal with Yorick?  What does Claudius continue to perpetuate about Hamlet?
  • After reading:  Read "Gertrude Talks Back" by Margaret Atwood. Complete "Gertrude Talks Back Activity" with a small group which contains both lenses. 
  • Exit Task:  Add questions to your Socratic seminar ticket to prepare for final discussion.
