Objective:  I can review critical theory and select one to use for my reading and viewing of Hamlet through taking notes in order to understand each “lens.”
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Open your notebook to a new page and divide it in ½ horizontally, then divide the top ½ down the middle leaving the bottom ½ full as shown on the board
  • What we do today will be a little strange at first, but it is of the utmost importance you follow the directions and do what is asked of you as you follow along to the prezi
    • In the top, left of your paper, write down what you notice as the song plays, and you look at the painting.
    • Repeat this process for the next song in the top, right of your paper
    • Discuss what you notice for each song
  • Explain Critical Theory in your own words and see Brief Overview of Lenses
    • Read The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein and try Applying Lenses using some of the questions in order to get a sense of how to read critically.
Exit Task:  At this point, which lens would you choose to use to read and watch Hamlet? Why?  Answer this to complete your notes in your notebook today.
