Objective:  I can cite strong and thorough textual evidence to compare a traditional copy of A Wrinkle in Time to a graphic novel copy  in order to develop my analysis of how valuable visual texts are to our society (RL11-12.1).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Pick up the Novel Comparison sheet from the basket and sit where you can see to take notes and write.
    • Answer the questions at the top of the handout
  • Follow along to the Comparing Text Types slideshow to compare the two types of novels
    • Teacher read aloud chapter one excerpt
    • Silent read graphic novel pages
    • Compare texts
Exit Task:  While the movie trailer plays, answer:  what are the strengths and weaknesses of both traditional and visual texts?
