Objective:  I can evaluate my teacher's point of view, reasoning, and use of reading strategies, assessing the tools she uses to better learn how to read a challenging text myself (SL11-12.3).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Pick up the Thinking Aloud handout as you come in and sit where you are comfortable to write.
  • Follow along to the reading, making note of what the teacher does as she reads the text you selected for her.
    • Now, you try it.  With the article that is given to you, based on the reading, practice using some of the skills the teacher just modeled in your own reading.
    • Be sure to be a thoughtful reader--this is an opportunity to learn some reading skills you may not have.
    • Don’t give up!  Read silently until the teacher tells you otherwise.
  • Exit Task: Make note of the strategies, completing at least 2 in each category, really reflecting on your reading process and how you can grow as a reader.
