Objective:  I can demonstrate knowledge of transcendental (19th c.) foundational works of American literature, including how two or more texts from the same period treat similar themes or topics (RL.11-12.9).
Agenda:

• Entry Task:  Get an Orange Lit. Book and the handout then review your notes on transcendentalism and prepare to answer questions.  You will be called on at random.
  
  • Work together as a class to review the Transcendentalism questions in the handout.  
    
  • Preview “Self-Reliance” p. 185-186
    
  • Read "from Self-Reliance" as class
    
    • Review what evidence, quotation, and dialogue are
      
  • With a partner, find evidence for as many statements as you can.  
    
  • Collaborate as a class using the prezi to ensure that each statement is complete.
    
    • If you have used one of the quotes shown in the prezi, raise your hand to explain which statement you used it for (if you are missing that statement, use this as an opportunity to complete your handout).  Remember--there is not one right answer for each of these, if you used a different quotation to complete a statement, what is important is that you can explain why.
      
  • We just did critical analysis!  What is that? Read the explanation in the handout and highlight your understanding.
