CW Daily Objective and Agenda

Objective:  I can develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, rewriting, or trying a new approach, focusing on addressing plot development (W11-12.5).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Take 5 min. to make edits to your narrative poem from yesterday--remember to try to incorporate all of the sensory words you identified.  
  • Trade your poem with the partner assigned to you--remember we are all learning together.
  • Begin by reading the poem as a whole, then complete the following.
  • For your partner, identify the following and answer in the margin:
    • Underline a line that uses a hearing word.  
      • Answer:  Is the line effective?  Can you “hear” it happening? What do you hear?
    • Underline a line that uses a taste word.
      • Answer:  Is the line effective? Can you ”taste” what is described?  What do you taste?
    • Underline a line that uses a smell word.
      • Answer:  Is the line effective? Can you ”smell” what is described?  What do you smell?
    • Underline a touch/texture word.
      • Answer:  How does this word improve what you ”see” or “feel”?
    • Underline a shape word.
      • Answer:  Are the shape words effective?  Why or why not?
    • Circle a color word.
      • Answer:  Do the color choices add to the overall tone of the poem?
    • At the end of their poem,
      • Answer:  How is your poem similar to theirs?
      • How is it different?
      • What do you like most about their poem?
  • Exit Task:  Review the narrative poem elements and make edits based off the feedback from your partner as well as anything missing from the narrative poem--did you maintain a specific meter?  Was this intentional?
