CW Daily Objective and Agenda

Objective:  I can participate effectively in a discussion about which books fall into which of the seven basic plots in order to provide as many ideas as possible for each (SL11-12.1).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Open to the back of your journal and label Seven Basic Plots; you will complete our work for independent reading on Fridays in the back of your journals.
  • Follow along to the prezi and copy the definition for each of the Seven Basic Plots
    • As each is shown, jot down any books or movies you have read or watched that you think meet the definition
  • After the prezi, share out all of the ideas we have for each of the Seven Basic Plots on the board
    • Copy down any other titles that are of interest to you
  • Review the specifics for each of the plots, considering each carefully
    • Put a box around the two plots you are most interested in reading from and/or writing from
  • We will go to the library to select a book next Friday, unless you come with one.  
    • For the book you select, you will outline how it fits the plot, but you will also (at least) outline, how you would write your own version of the selected plot--this can become one of your short stories for your anthology!
    • You will also “present” your book/plot to the class after spring break in order for others to learn from what you read and determine whether or not they would like to read that book as well.
    • There will be many styles of projects presented to you--anything goes as long as it shows the the plot you selected.  
  • Exit Task:  Research on your phone or the class shelves any of the titles you heard today that you would like to know more about.
