Objective:  I can initiate and participate effectively in a discussion about how I and other would perceive Christopher McCandless, building on others’ ideas and expressing my own clearly and persuasively.
Agenda:
  • Entry Task: Grab a sheet off the front table then chat with a neighbor about the following questions:
    • What do you know about Mt. Everest?
    • Would you ever climb the mountain? Why or why not?
    • Do you believe Christopher (Alex) McCandless would have had any interest in climbing the mountain?
  • Watch an episode of Real Sports (20:43) focusing on climbing the tallest point on Earth: Mt. Everest.
    • While you watch, compare McCandless to both the adventurers and the Sherpa by completing the chart.
  • Review the 4-Corners questions and select the answer you think both the Sherpa and the adventurers would choose for McCandless.  Writer your answer on the chart
    • Share out
  • Exit Task:  Cut and paste your chart into your journal, referencing the Table of Contents on the board.  If you were gone last Friday, make sure you get the new vocabulary set. If you want to make test-corrections to Vocab Test one, you may do so tomorrow or Thursday at access time.
