Objective:  I can determine dystopian ideas of a text and analyze their development over the course of the book review, and I can provide an objective summary of the text in comparison to the other book I selected (RI11-12.2).
Agenda:
  • Entry Task:  Cut and paste the pictures of Station 11 and Emily St. John Mandel on to the next blank page in your notebook and pick up a copy of The Guardian Station 11 Book Review and a classroom copy of the book.
  • As the book review is read to you, have your notebook open to the Dystopia characteristics.
    • Annotate for at least 5 different Dystopian characteristics that appear in the book review.
    • Share out 5 characteristics
  • In your notebook, next to the pictures of the author and book, compare this book to the book you selected to read on your own.
  • Prepare to follow along to the first two chapters of the book Station 11.
    • Ch. 1-2 (21:14; 6:00=27:14)
  • Exit Task:  Put a star next to any of the elements which you annotated in your article that appeared in the first two chapters.  Please put books back where you found them.
