Objective: I can know the importance of an effective resume and cover letter, so I will take my time to develop one that I can confidently utilize and add to as my training and career progresses throughout the year(s). Agenda:
Entry Task: Share with a neighbor--do you have a resume? Where did you create it? Is it up-to-date? 3-5 student responses expected.
Discuss: What is a resume? What is a cover letter? What are their purposes? When/where do you use them?
In the groups of 3-5 assigned to you, review the cover letters and resumes given to you.
Determine which you will consider and which you will trash
Remember, employers/colleges take seconds to determine whether or not they want to read or learn more about you.
You have 5 min. to select one cover letter and one resume you think are worth learning more about the potential employee or student.
In your group, be prepared to share out who you selected with one solid line of reasoning.
